Electroless Nickel Plating (ENP)

ELECTROLESS NICKEL PLATING is used to deposit nickel without the use of an electric current. The coating is deposited by an autocatalytic chemical reduction of nickel ions by hypophosphite, aminoborane, or borohydride compounds.

Electroless nickel is an engineering coating, normally used because of excellent corrosion and wear resistance. Electroless nickel coatings are also frequently applied on aluminum to provide a solderable surface and are used with molds and dies to improve lubricity and part release. Because of these properties, electroless nickel coatings have found many applications, including those in petroleum, chemicals, plastics, optics, printing, mining, aerospace, nuclear, automotive, electronics, computers, textiles, paper, and food machinery

Some of the Advantages of Electroless Nickel Coating:

  1. Good resistance to Corrosion and wear
  2. Excellent Uniformity
  3. Solderabilty & Brazeability
  4. Increase the Hardness of the surface
  5.  Lubricity

Today there are many diverse applications such as provision of corrosion and wear resistance to flow control equipment in the Oil & Gas industry. In the chemical industry, innovative and less expensive substrate materials have found applications when used in conjunction with electroless nickel coatings. The ability to faithfully reproduce the surface to which it is applied enables corrosion protection and lubricity to be applied to complex moulds and tools providing ease of release. Indeed electroless nickel coatings find applications in most industries including:

  • Automotive
  • Chemical
  • Electronics
  • Connectors
  • Oil & Gas
  • Printing
  • Textiles
  • Moulds & Tools
  • Business machines
  • Food handling
  • Packaging, and many more

The growth of electroless nickel has benefited most from the development of new applications.

We do Electroless Nickel-Phosphorus plating on following substrates

  1. Iron based alloys – e.g. Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, etc
  2. Aluminium & its Alloys
  3. Copper, Nickel, Cobalt, Titanium

Electroless Nickel can be done Bright Nickel Finish, Matte Finish & Semi Bright Finish.
